Michael J. Iarrapino was born on September 15, 1923, in Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Pasquale Iarrapino and Gelsomina Marinaro Iarrapino. He was married to Margaret "Marge" Nagy Iarrapino. He served as a Private First Class and combat medic with the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, during World War II, taking part in the D-Day landings on Omaha Beach in France.
