Joseph Hopta Jr. was born on February 25, 1925. He was married to Elizabeth Mahr Hopta. He served as a Private First Class and combat medic with the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, during World War II, taking part in the D-Day landings on Omaha Beach in France.
PFC Hopta died in June 1989 and is now buried in the Saint James Cemetery and Mausoleum, Woodbridge, Middlesex County, New Jersey, USA.
