Harold James Coyle was born on October 12, 1903. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1927. He served in the Headquarters Company, United States Air Force, Pacific, as a Major during World War II.
Maj Coyle was captured by the Japanese following the fall of the Philippine Islands in 1942, held as a prisoner of war, and later executed in Cebu on April 17, 1942. His name is memorialized in the Tablets of the Missing in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Manila, Capital District, National Capital Region, Philippines.
