Nathan Henry Mantz McCauley was born on March 21, 1894, in Rush County, Kansas. He was the son of Robert McCauley and Viola Elizabeth Mantz McCauley. He was a Stenographer before enlisting in the service. He served in the 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles Battalion (Saskatchewan Regiment) as a Corporal during World War I.
Cpl McCauley was Killed in Action on February 2, 1916, in Belgium. He is now buried in the La Plus Douve Farm Military Cemetery, Comines-Warneton, Arrondissement de Mouscron, Hainaut, Belgium. He also has a cenotaph in Sorden Cemetery, Webster, Keokuk County, Iowa, USA.
