Newton Hathaway Lovell was born on May 1, 1896, in Michigan. He was the son of Rawson Taft Lovell and Fanny Buchanan Robbie Lovell. He served in Headquarters Company, 164th Infantry Regiment, 41st Infantry Division, as a Sergeant during World War I.
Sgt Lovell died from pneumonia on January 7, 1918, in England. He is now buried in the Magdalen Hill Cemetery, Winchester, City of Winchester, Hampshire, England.
