Homer Gilbert Herrington was born on July 4, 1892, in Osage County, Oklahoma. He was the son of Kate Herrington. He was a farmer before enlisting in the service. He served in the 47th Battalion, Canadian Infantry as a Private during World War I.

Pvt Herrington was Killed in Action on October 27, 1917. He is now buried in Passchendaele New British Cemetery, Passchendaele, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders, Belgium.
