Duncan McCormick Jr. served in the 331st Bomber Squadron, 94th Bomber Group, as a Staff Sergeant and Ball Turret Gunner of B-17G 42-38107 during World War II.
Duncan was shot down by fighters and crashed near Celle on a mission to Brunswick on February 10, 1944. He was captured by the German forces and held as a prisoner of war in Stalag Luft IV in Braunau, near Krems, Austria, and returned to Military Control at the end of hostilities in May 1945. He survived the infamous "Death March" across Germany, an 83-day journey in which many of his comrades perished. Currently, we have no details about SSgt McCormick's death and burial place.
