Foy Neal Gamble was born on November 20, 1915, in Iron City, Lawrence County, Tennessee. He was the son of W. T. Gamble and Nora Smith Gamble. He was married to Virginia Wright Gamble.

Foy served in the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 7, 1944, during the liberation of Vire, France. Pvt Gamble is now buried in the Shiloh Church of Christ Cemetery, Green Hill, Lauderdale County, Alabama, USA.
