William Edwin Warfield was born on May 27, 1914, in Damascus, Montgomery County, Maryland. He worked as a carpenter before enlisting in the army on February 12, 1941.

William served in the 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a Lieutenant Colonel during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 10, 1944, during a German ambush on Cartigny-l’Epinay, France. LtCol Warfield is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France.
