He was Killed in Action on June 10, 1944, during a German ambush on Cartigny-l’Epinay, France. LtCol Warfield is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France.
