Yale H. Squire. 1st Lieutenant. Air Service. World War I.
Yale Squire was from Mazeppa, Minnesota, the son of George Henry Squire, born Madison, Wisconsin, and Rachael Phillips, born Lockport, Illinois. He attended Mazeppa grade school, and Pillsbury Academy in Owatonna. He worked for the Minneapolis Tribune in the sports section, prior to entering the service. He served with the Norton-Harjes Ambulance Corps from 3 May 1917 to 15 September 1917, when he entered the Air Corps. He was commissioned 1st Lieutenant 18 February 1918. He was killed in a plane crash with a student at the Third Aviation Instruction Center, Tours, France.
