Louis Mizera was born on September 30, 1924, in Binghamton, Broome County, New York. He was the son of Edward John Mizera and Skoli Sophie Zemek Mizera. Louis served in the 561st Bomber Squadron, 388th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Technical Sergeant and the Ball Turret Gunner of the B-17F 42-30207 'Big Red' during World War II.

On March 27, 1944, his plane took off from station #136 around 10:19 am at Knettishall, England, for a mission in Bordeaux-Merignac airfield. His plane was shot down by flak and exploded in Azienay. TSgt Mizera was Killed in Action and is now buried in Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Departement de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
