Ervin Joseph Moger was born on January 21, 1905, in Madison, Lake County, South Dakota. He was the son of Iver Eleaser Moger and Johanna Stenseth Oas.
Ervin served in Company A, 1st Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was one of 50 US Army Rangers who participated with British Commando on the Dieppe raid in 1942. He never left the boat but was wounded in the neck and thigh from shell fragments, and did not return to duty until October 1942. Ervin transferred to the 1900 Service CMD Unit and ended his service as a Staff Sergeant. SSgt Moger died on June 21, 1966, and is now buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeland, Washington County, Minnesota, USA.
