William E. Leinhas was born on November 23, 1920. He served in Company B, 1st Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to Company C, 3rd Ranger Battalion, He was one of 50 US Army Rangers who participated with British Commando on the Dieppe raid in 1942. Sgt Leinhas died on February 20, 1966, and is now buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery, York, York County, Pennsylvania, USA.
