Stanley “Brownie” Bush was born on April 7, 1917, in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. He was the son of Catherine Bush. He was the husband of Stephanie Klus. Bush served in the 1st Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was promoted to Corporal and transferred to the Headquarters Company, 4th Ranger Battalion. He was one of 50 US Army Rangers who participated with British Commando on the Dieppe raid in 1942.
Cpl Bush was trapped with two officers and a private by the enemy, he raced to a jeep and succeeded in saving the the lives of the others but was killed when the enemy destroyed the vehicle. He was declared Missing in Action on July 10, 1943, during the fighting in Gela, Sicily. Cpl Bush is listed on The Tablet of the Missing at the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial in Nettuno, Italy.
