Bernard Gerald Wilson was born on October 9, 1914, in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio. He was the son of Carl Bernard Wilson and Anna Agnes Atkinson Wilson. He served in Battery C, 80th Airborne Anti-Aircraft Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, as a Sergeant during World War II. Sgt Wilson was Killed in Action on June 16, 1944, during the liberation of Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte in France. He is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France. Sgt Wilson was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his bravery and sacrifices.
