Anthony Apicella was born on August 28, 1914, in Bellaire, Belmont County, Ohio. He served in Battery C, 80th Airborne Anti-Aircraft Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, as a Corporal during World War II. Cpl Apicella was Killed in Action on June 16, 1944, during the liberation of Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte in France. He is now buried in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Bellaire, Belmont County, Ohio. Cpl Apicella was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart in recognition of his bravery and sacrifices.
