Irving Leonard Jones was born on February 8, 1920, in Missouri. He was the husband of Anita Maple Benson Rinehart. They had a child namely Gordon Lewis Jones.
Irving served in Company I, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 8, 1944, while advancing toward a German machinegun position on the road to Grainville, France. Pvt Jones is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
