Nicholas Milczakowski was born on June 30, 1921, in Edwardsville, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Catherine Lesknicz Milczakowski.

He served in the 712th Tank Battalion as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 26, 1944, when his Sherman tank struck a stack of land mines at the hamlet of La Doderie in Gonfreville, France. He was the driver of the tank when the tank hit a mine. Private Milczakowski was awarded the Purple Heart and was buried at Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Departement du Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France.
