Claude Taylor Dean was born on July 18, 1917, in Mississippi. He was the son of Samuel Richard "Sam" Dean Sr. and Ruby Meeks Dean. He was the husband of Dorothy Shiver Dean.
He served in the 873rd Bomber Squadron, 498th Bomber Group, Very Heavy, as a 2nd Lieutenant and a co-pilot of B-29 Superfortress #44-69747 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 10, 1945, when the aircraft made a navigational error and crashed into Mt. Fubo.
