James Woolford was the son of Robert Hugh and Charlotte Woolford, of Charleston, Illinois, U.S.A.; husband of Virginia Thorton Woolford. He served in the 61 (R.A.F.) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Pilot Officer during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 17, 1943, when his Lancaster aircraft # W 4797 was lost, presumed over the target, presumed enemy action. He is remembered on a cenotaph in the Arcola Township Cemetery
