Temple Dawson Trippe was born on March 3, 1918, in East Orange, Essex County, New Jersey. He was the son of Richard Hayward Trippe and Florence Dawson Trippe, of Baltimore, Maryland.
Temple served in the 405 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer during World War II. He was declared Missing in Action on September 28, 1943, when his Lancaster III JB120, which took off at 19h45 from RAF Gransden Lodge, was lost without a trace. His body was never found. His name is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, in England, and he has a cenotaph in the Druid Ridge Cemetery, Maryland.
