Irving Louis Sanitsky was born on May 8, 1920, in Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Simon and Ida Rose (nee Swartz) Sanitsky.

Irving served in the 102 (R.A.F.) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on February 25, 1943, when his aircraft # DT 800 crashed at Badliss Hall Farm near Ardleigh, Colchester, England.
