William Ross was the son of William and Mary Currie Ross, of Mount Vernon, New York. He served in the 101 (R.A.F.) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 26, 1944, when his Lancaster aircraft # NN 705 went missing during a night trip to Russelheim, Germany.
