Robert Harvey Riedy was born on November 1, 1921, in Allentown, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Harvey C. Riedy and Eva M. Meissner Riedy.
Robert served in the #15 Operational Training Unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 18, 1942, when his Wellington aircraft #W 4265 swung on takeoff and collided with Hudson aircraft #N 7332. The Wellington became airborne, then stalled, crashed, and burned at the RAF’s Mount Farm airfield in Oxfordshire, near Oxford. He is now buried in the Brookwood Military Cemetery, England. He has a cenotaph in the Grandview Cemetery, Pennsylvania.
