Comments:

James Courtland Parker was born on November 14, 1920, in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. He was the son of Edward and Gertrude Parker; husband of Sophia Davison Parker, of Hebburn-on-Tyne, Co. Durham, USA.

James served in the 408 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer during World War II. He was killed on February 14, 1943, when the pilot of his Halifax aircraft (#DT 750) made a crash landing near Kirby, Wiske, Yorkshire while returning home after an operation to Cologne, Germany, after the port outer engine caught fire and the port inner lost power. F/O Parker bailed at too low an altitude and was killed when his parachute failed to fully open.
