Harold Barbour Moore of Boones Mill, Virginia, was born on February 26, 1920. He served in the #76 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Pilot Officer during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 2, 1943, when his Halifax aircraft # DT 556, which took off at 18h27 from RAF Linton-on-Ouse and was homebound, was shot down by a night-fighter crashing at 00h13 between Kasterlee and Turnhout (Antwerpen) Belgium.
P/O Moore is now buried in the Antwerpen Schoonselhof Communal Cemetery and has a cenotaph in the Mountain View Memorial Park, Virginia.
