James Matthew Maxon was born on June 1, 1908, in Galesburg City Township, Knox County, Illinois. He was the son of James Matthew Maxon Sr and Blanch Morris Maxon.
James served in the #405 City of Vancouver Squadron as a Sergeant during World War II. He was killed on September 18, 1941, when his Wellington aircraft # W 5492 accidentally crashed near RAF Pocklington, England.
