Mado Henry Donald MacDonald was born on July 24, 1917, in Wroxton, Cherwell District, Oxfordshire, England. He was the son of Charles L. R. MacDonald and of Alice D. MacDonald, of San Joseph, California.

Mado served in the #44 Rhodesia Squadron (Fulmina Regis lusta) of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Pilot Officer during World War II. He was Killed in Action on May 8, 1942, when his Lancaster aircraft #R 5557, which was carrying 6 x 1,000 lb. bombs, went missing over enemy territory. His body was never recovered.
