Donald Cole Lindsey was born on December 15, 1921. He was the son of Fanny Lindsey, of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Donald served in the #16 Operational Training Unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant during World War II. He was killed on March 26, 1942, when his Hampden Mk. l P1221 aircraft hit the top of the spire of the Old Weston Church while attempting to land, crashing at the nearby RAF Molesworth.
