George Martin L'Hommedieu was born on June 9, 1911, in Glen Cove, Nassau County, New York. He was the son of Herbert and Maria Griffin L'Hommedieu and was the husband of Marjorie Davis L'Hommedieu, of Sea Cliff, New York.
George served in the #24 Operational Training Unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Sergeant during World War II. He was killed on September 26, 1943, when his Whitley V Z9428 aircraft, which took off from RAF Honeybourne for training for a bullseye exercise, crashed near Stoke Orchard, Gloucestershire.
