Harry Lawton was born on July 2, 1917, in Pittsburg, Camp County, Texas. He was the son of William Otis Lawton and Lizzie Fay (nee Brooks) Lawton, of Dallas, Texas.
Harry served in the 97 (R.A.F.) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as Flight Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 9, 1942, when his Lancaster aircraft # R 5495, which took off at 23h49 at RAF Woodhall, England, failed to return from an operational flight over Essen, Germany.
