William Kadison Komaiko was born on February 14, 1918, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He was the son of Solomon B. and Pauline S. Komaiko.
William served in the 467 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer during World War II. He was on his 14th operation when his Lancaster aircraft ED 525 failed to return from an attack against Wilhelmshaven, Germany. His body was never recovered. Flying Officer Komaiko is memorialized on the Runnymede Memorial and has a cenotaph in the Waldheim Cemetery Co., Illinois.
