William Joseph Keough was the son of Thomas Joseph and Jeannette Wade Dunn Keough, of Portland, Maine. He served in the 97 (R.A.F.) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Pilot Officer during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 2, 1942, when his Lancaster aircraft # R 557, which was carrying bombs, was shot down at Suderwick, Germany, during a night bombing operation over enemy territory. Pilot Officer Keough is now buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery in Germany and has a cenotaph in the Calvary Cemetery in Maine.
