Alger Jenkins was born on May 16, 1914, in Montclair, New Jersey. He was the son of Alger and Louise Snedecor Jenkins.
Alger enlisted on June 22, 1940, in Montreal, Canada. He served in the #408 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Warrant Officer Second Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 27, 1942, when his Hampden I AE219 aircraft, which took off at 19h27 from RAF Balderton to lay mines in the Yams area (Heligoland Approaches), had failed to return from an operational flight off the coast of Holland. His body was never found.
