Stanley Goddard Gray was born on September 26, 1919, in New York. He served in the #78 Squadron (Nemo Non Paratus) of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant during World War II. A crew member on the Halifax II W7822, which took off at 20h09 from RAF Linton-on-Ouse, England, he was declared Missing in Action on September 27, 1942, when his aircraft failed to return from an operational flight over Flensburg, Germany. They were last heard reporting that their aircraft had been attacked by a night fighter and the port outer engine was u/s; a low fuel state was also reported.
