Vincent J. Marimpietri was born on February 15, 1923 in Ocre (Aquila), Italy. When he was seven years old, he immigrated to the US and settled in Pittsburgh, PA. Staff Sergeant Vincent J. Marimpietri was the Assistant Engineer/Gunner on B-24 (42-52318) 'Naughty Angel' of the 757th Bomber Squadron, 459th Bomber Group, 15th US Air Force. On June 9, 1944 flying from Guilia, Italy, his plane was on a mission to bomb Munich and was shot down by enemy fighters over Lienz; he was killed parachuting out of the plane. The rest of the crew survived. (MACR 6179)
