Comments:

Robert Henry Galipeau was born on September 23, 1915, in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota. He was the son of Joseph H. and Ella M. Galipeau, of Coleraine, Minnesota.

Robert served in the #22 Operational Training Unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant during World War II. On September 14, 1942, his Vickers Wellington (#R1588) aircraft, with an aircrew of five, took off from RAF Wellesbourne Mountford on an air operation over Bremen in Germany. The Wellington was shot down off Denmark during the operation; it crashed into the sea, taking the lives of the aircrew. The remains of only Flight Sergeant Galipeau were recovered.
