Jack Wilfred Dorrell, of Willoughby Lake, Ohio, was born on January 30, 1920, in Oxford, City of Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. He was the son of Henry Wilfred and Norah Mary Dorrell; husband of Pearl Mary Dorrell of Columbus, Ohio.
jack served in the 431 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer during World War II. On March 22, 1945, their eight-man crew members flying the Lancaster X KB-808 coded SE-Y took flight from RAF Station Croft in North Yorkshire, England, for an attack on the rail yards at Hildesheim, Germany. The Lancaster was hit by flak, blowing up over the target area and killing the eight airmen.
