Charles Cleghorn Brockie Craigie was born on February 8, 1924, in Montreal, Montreal Region, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Charles N. Craigie, and of Elizabeth C. Craigie, of Ludlow, Massachusetts.

Charles served in the 415 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Pilot Officer during World War II. He was Killed in Action on February 24, 1945, when his Halifax aircraft # NP 936 went missing during a daylight operation to Kamen, Germany.
