Bruce Adams Coukell was born on February 20, 1916, in Havelock, Peterborough County, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of John E. Coukell and Mary H. Coukell, of High Bridge, New Jersey.
Bruce served in the #17 Operational Training Unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Sergeant during World War II. He was killed on September 7, 1941, when his Blenheim aircraft #R 3875 crashed at Shrewsbury, England.
