He served in the #415 Swordfish Squadron (Ad Metam) of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Pilot Officer (Air Gnr.) during World War II. He was killed on January 5, 1945, when his Halifax MZ-476 was shot down and crashed near Twistringen, Germany.
