Earl Randolph Carvajal was born on February 24, 1920, in El Paso, El Paso County, Texas. He was the son of Eleanor Lorillard Carvajal.
Earl served in the 425 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant during World War II. On April 12, 1943, aboard Wellington X # HE491, with an aircrew of five, took off from RAF Dishforth on a night mine-laying operation. failed to return to base following the operation; it is thought that the aircraft crashed into the North Sea, taking the lives of the entire crew.
