Robert T. Miller was born on September 6, 1918, in Kimberling, Bland County, Virginia. He was the son of Robert Montague Miller and Mary Elizabeth Miller.

Robert served in the 566th Bomber Squadron, 389th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Tail Gunner on the B-24M-10-FO Liberator #44-50747 during World War II.

Departing from RAF Hethel/AAF Station 114 in Norfolk, England, he was Killed in Action on April 5, 1945 aboard B-24 #44-50747. That day, the 389th BG was on a mission to hit the marshaling yards at Plauen, Germany. His plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire from a German ship off the coast of Holland (The Netherlands). It caused a fuel leak and the pilot radioed he would attempt a landing. The plane crashed between Brouwershaven and Zonnemaire, The Netherlands. All nine on board were killed.
