Forrest Dixie “Doc” Shaw was born on March 1, 1917, in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. He was the son of Harold Anderson Shaw and Annie Jane Twombly Shaw.
Forrest served in the 568th Bomber Squadron, 390th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot on the B-17 #43-38175 “I’ll Be Seeing You” during World War II. He was Missing in Action on September 18, 1944, when his aircraft was shot down by German artillery during a mission in Warsaw, Poland. He was never found and was declared dead on September 19, 1945. He has a cenotaph in the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA.
