Early Gibson Colvard, Jr. was born on January 8, 1923, in Jackson County, Alabama. He was the son of Early Gibson Colvard and Eunice Brown Colvard.
Early Gibson, Jr. resided in Jackson County, Alabama, prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on March 3, 1943, at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.
He served in Company E, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Technician 5th Grade during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 7, 1944, at the age of 21, at Pointe du Hoc, during the American assault on Omaha and Utah beaches in France. T5 Colvard is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France. He also has a cenotaph located in the Rosalie Baptist Church Cemetery, in Rosalie, Alabama.
