Robert Stanley Edick was the son of Ellis L. and Mary L. Edick of Little Falls, New York. At the time of his death, Robert was serving in the 298 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a crew member aboard Halifax III NA103. On February 25, 1945, his crew was making a night supply drop to Norwegian agents when they took a direct hit from enemy flak. The aircraft blew up in the air, caught fire, and then crashed in the sea off the south coast of Norway. P/O.s C.A. Holmlund, H. Lochhead, F/O.s E.A. Innes, A. Kotyk, and one of the crew, not Canadian, were also killed. In August 1988, a cairn was erected near the crash site on Hisoy Island in honor of this aircrew. Flying Officer Pilot Edick is buried on the Island of Husoy, Norway. His name is also inscribed on the Runnymede War Memorial, Englefield Green, Egham, Surrey, England.
