Edward W. Shufflebotham was born on April 27, 1920. At the time of his death, he was serving in the 563rd Signal Air Warning Battalion as a Staff Sergeant and a passenger on the C-47 #43-48611. On January 18, 1945, he was killed in an air crash when they took off from A-54 airfield in Le Bourget, France, to be transported to Station 343 in Biggin Hill, England. Due to an unknown reason, the aircraft crashed approximately 7 minutes later after they took off. Eighteen people were killed in this accident, while four were seriously injured.
