Harold Weldon Grubb was born on July 11, 1924, in Lebanon, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Warren G. Grubb and Clara Mae Euston Grubb.

Harold served in the 27th Air Transport Group as a Corporal and Mechanic on the C-47 #43-48611 during World War II. On January 18, 1945, he was killed in an air crash when they took off from A-54 airfield in Le Bourget, France, to transport passengers to Station 343 in Biggin Hill, England. Due to an unknown reason, the aircraft crashed approximately 7 minutes later after they took off. Eighteen people were killed in this accident, while four were seriously injured.
