Theodore G. Poole was born on December 17, 1919, in Robstown, Nueces County, Texas. He was the son of Eugene Charlie Poole and Mamie J. Avery Poole.
Theodore served in the 782nd Bomber Squadron, 465th Bomber Group, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot on the B-24 #44-41017 during World War II.
On August 3, 1944, his crew took off from Pantanella, Italy, on a bombing mission over Friedrichshafen, Germany. On their return, while flying at 20,000 feet at about 13:00, his B-24 was hit by German aircraft and went down. All 9 crew members were reported to have bailed out, but his parachute did not open, and TSgt Hill was never seen again. The other 7 crew members were captured and sent to prison camps. Their aircraft crashed at Ehrwald, Tyrol, Austria. 2Lt Poole is commemorated on a plaque in Ehrwald, but his place of crash inscribed is at the mountain of Hohe Munde.
2Lt Poole is now buried in the Robstown Cemetery, Robstown, Nueces County, Texas, USA.
