Martin Jones Bakke was born on November 12, 1910, in Cameron, Barron County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Andrew Bakke and Annette J. Anderson Bakke.
Martin served in the 15th Tank Battalion, 6th Armored Division, as a Corporal during World War II. He was one of the 75 soldiers killed during the liberation of Plabennec and Plouvien, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
